Concerts

I made a list of all the bands I've seen live, because I know it's one of my favorite things to do. After looking at the list, I felt quite proud (and broke.) Many of you have gone with me, wasn't it fun? I can't think of very many current friends that I haven't seen a concert with. Here's the list. It doesn't include local bands like Colony, Maxtone 4, Rob Boyle, or GTO.

Have you seen more?

Meatloaf
Stone Temple Pilots (twice)
Rolling Stones
Sheryl Crow
George Clinton and the P Funk All Stars
Jimmy Buffet
No Doubt (twice)
Belly
Cake
Sarah McLachlan (twice)
Natalie Merchant
Bonnie Raitt
Steve Miller Band
Johnny Cash (I was 2, and it shouldn't really count, but he's so cool, I had to include him)
The Judds
Dave Mathews Band (three times)
Aerosmith
Flogging Molly ( three times)
Dresden Dolls
Counting Crows
Live
U2
Big Bad Voodoo Daddies
KC and the Sunshine Band
Lyle Lovett
B.B. King
Burle Ives
Love and Rockets
Jars of Clay
Lisa Loeb
Better Than Ezra
Lee Greenwood
Proclaimers
Meat Puppets
Rusted Root
Jewel
JoDee Messina
The Cure
Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Definitely more than me......but I doubt more than Christy. In the late 70s and early 80s it seemed like every other weekend there was a concert. What I remember is the ticket was less than $5; but if you wanted to splurge, you could get the black concert t-shirt! See if you can convince Christy to post her list.....there's some cool ones like Alice Cooper and Ozzy (Ozzy from the 80's; not the sap on the telly).

Wow, fun. I did forget Sum 41, Poe, and the Transiberian Orchestra, and I guess Mara.

Sara, I haven't heard of many of those bands. Maybe people haven't heard of all the bands I posted either?

Joe, I'm trying to get Christy to post her list. Concerts are WAY more than $5, we paid $98 to go see DMB (two tickets.) I saw Meatloaf the summer of 1994, after the "I would Do anything For Love" cd came out, but he played all the old songs too. I cried when the concert was over because I liked it so much.

I heard of a guy that cried at a Michael Jackson concert when MJ sang "Man in the Mirror."

    Sara - 61 *
    Elaine- 42 *

You definently win. I think you win just because you saw Snoop.

    * Numbers might not be exact, they are hard to count when they don't all fit on the page.

I have only heard of 51 bands that you listed, and if you count all the local bands I've seen, my number raises to 47, but I know you were at the STP concert when the Meat Puppets opened, so that moves you to 52 (in my own bogus way of counting.) Guess after all my trying, you still win.

I haven't seen the Cranberries, Becky. I think a job at Riverport might have been the dream summer job for me. Lucky you. I'm not so sure you were lucky to see ICP though. I have seen Riverdance. =)

I'm intrigued by Joe G, because I'm pretty sure I don't know this person, but I think it's totally rad that he is commenting. =)

There are a few of Christy's I haven't heard of including the Michael Stanley Band, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Brownsville Station, Pavlov's Dog, and Sugarland. We did hear a Thin Lizzy song on the radio the other day.

Becky, looking forward to your list, Tiffany? You were so lucky your parents let you go to concerts so early. I didn't see my first concert until the summer in between high school and college.

Elaine broke me from being a concert virgin. While living in Fresno she invited me to see No Doubt with her and since then I have only been to three other conerts (Rage Against the Machine, Dave Matthews and Kenny Chesney--I know I know what a variety!). However, nothing beats the first time you can't hear anything the next morning!
