Beef and Broccoli

John made an awesome dinner tonight, Beef and Broccoli, from scratch. You'd think he was Chinese. I never understand how people make things from scratch, and John does it all the time. I always need a recipe. I will sometimes tweak a recipe, but I always need something to start with, or guide from. I'm the one making Crispy Chicken and Vegetable Croquettes from my Food and Wine Magazine, and he makes Beef and Broccoli from scratch. Guess who is more anal, and who is more creative?
