New Ad Campaign
We saw an ad in the local Ste. Gen paper for another winery having a "Nurses Day." The ad said if you wear your scrubs, and work in the medical profession, or are a nurse, you can come to the winery and get a 15% discount. John asked if we could have a "Strippers Day" where the strippers wear their uniforms and get a discount. John even volunteered to work that day.

Happy Drunk
Last Friday, my brother Matt threw a surprise 40th birthday party for his wife Sharon. She was surprised, for sure, because he also threw a surprise 39th party for her last year.
Some people are very entertaining when they are drunk. I am not usually the sober person watching the drunk person, but since we got to the party late, some members of the party were way ahead of me, including Matt. Conversations with "happy drunk Matt" went like this: "Man, John and Elaine, this cd you made for the party is awesome!!!!" "No problem, Matt, you picked out the songs." "You two are the BEST!!!!" "Thanks, Matt." Later in the evening Matt says, "This Dave Mathews Band song Satellite is the best song ever, the timing is perfect." "I'm glad you like it Matt, I thought you didn't like Dave Mathews Band." "This song rocks!" A little while later as we were trying to have a conversation with my aunt that we don't see enough, Matt comes up and says,"thanks you guys." Everyone just looks at him, and I say, "no problem, Matt" not quite sure what any of us have done. Then Matt says, "the cd is awesome. " "Glad you like it." It's good to be appreciated.
My favorite part of "happy drunk Matt" was when he spilled the cooler of beer while we were cleaning up after the party. He just said, "O'well" and started putting the beer back in the cooler.

Christy's List
I'm pretty excited because Christy posted her concert list. It's very impressive. I like the way the list reads; Blue Oyster Cult, Rolling Stones, Backstreet Boys. =) Check it out, it's the 11th comment under my concert list in June.
Today marks 6 month of this blog. I'm glad you are still here, because I'm still enjoying it.

Freak
John and I found this other person's blog, http://coasm.blogspot.com/ This lady is C-R-A-Z-Y. I'm not even convinced it's a real blog, I think it's some college guy trying hard to act like a psycho lady. Some of the things she says are hard to believe. John comments as "David Maslanka." Her therapist posts too. Lately her therapist has been doing much of the posting, so it's not as interesting, but if you have a moment in front of the computer to look at this, you won't be disappointed.

Better Or Worse?
Everyone who has ever been to our house, and been in the backyard has met our pleasant next door neighbor K-9s, Dexter and Baxter. We all know I love animals, John in particular loves dogs. These two monsters are the most scary creatures I've ever been in contact with. Barking, snarling, growling, chomping, everytime we come and go. We've tried everything, dog bones given to us by their owner, dog bones off our grill...we've tried ignoring them, we've tried shushing them, we've tried petting them, all to no avail. Last Saturday we had Helen and Phil over for a BBQ before we went to Fair St. Louis to see the Black Eyed Peas. While I was inside, somehow, Helen started petting the nasties. Then John was petting them, Phil too, and then me. I petted them. It blew my mind. We've lived here 20 months, and Helen comes over 1 day and solves it? Not really. Herein lies the problem. The next day we tried to pet them without Helen. They were back to the usual scare tactics, which work very well. Then the owner comes over to the fence, and we are now expected to try to pet them again. We give them our fist to smell through the fence, they hop their front legs on top of the fence, and snap and bark like they want to rip my throat out. I hate it. It's been a week now, and they still hate me. I don't want to try to pet them anymore. I don't want to be barked at anymore.

I'm a Seamstress
Occasionally the "I'm a plumber" turns into something else ridiculous, for example I said, "I'm a seamstress" after finishing this cat bed. I bought all the material to make it, and I had another cat bed as a guide. I'm still surprised that it turned out looking like what I expected it to look like. Don't look too close, the sewing isn't all that good, crooked lines, and all, but I am impressed overall. The fabric is awesome. It's famous artist artwork changed into cats. Like the Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe is now a cat face in different colors. The Michelangelo fingers almost touching is now two paws almost touching.
