Full Length Baby
We have been sleeping easier over here. I'm chalking up the bad nights to my clogged milk ducts which make less milk and I didn't know. There should be a full and empty gauge on these things.
As far as the pacifier goes, we freaked out and bought 4 more hospital pacifiers and had them overnighted, (who knew you could get them at Target?)and in the meantime she has taken to a different paci, the one that came with the bottles we got as a shower gift. There is always that Mizzou paci, and I know Sue is dying for her to use it, but we tried it and she liked it WAY too much. So much so that every time she spit it out or it fell out of her mouth she screamed like a banshee. I told Sue we could try the Mizzou paci again only if she agreed to come over everytime she spit it out and cried. Sue declined the generous offer, and with a snoring husband and a dog with a small bladder, sounds like her sleep is being compromised over at her house also.
I'm off to bed, at 9:37 p.m. on a Saturday.

After Bath
Last night went much better, for all those interested. She ate at 12:30 a.m. and then didn't wake up until 7 a.m., which I think is a new record. We worked hard yesterday trying to keep her AWAKE for long periods of time (long periods of time for a 7 week old equals 1 hour, and 15 minutes.)
Today we left the house in another effort to keep her awake, and in doing so we lost the hospital pacifier. I guess that's another effective way to keep her awake, lose the thing that helps her fall asleep.
Tonight might be a doozy.

Smiles
She is starting to perfect her smile, and I am starting to predict it, which makes it almost feasible to get a picture. These were taken this morning.
Last night she did not go to sleep until 4:30 a.m., which was most annoying. John and I took turns rocking her, snuggling, shimmying, giving her the pacifier, you name it, we tried it in the wee small hours of the morning.
She finally went to sleep and slept for hours, and was all smiles after that.
Humph.
We are trying very hard to keep her awake during the day today, and ourselves too. Wish us luck.

Babies on the Sofa
Last Sunday we went to Sara's baby, Alaric's, baptism. So, this is a picture of Sara holding Alaric, John holding Cecilia, and Char.

Enjoy the Silence
As you can see from the last picture, we try to swaddle her tight. She feels comfortable that way, and sleeps better all tucked in. Sometimes, though, she squirms, and when she can get an arm out, we know she will only be asleep for a limited amount of time.

Introduction
The cats could really care less about Cecilia. They seem neither interested or disinterested. Java gives her dirty looks when she is on my lap. Java will also cry outside our door at night when he hears me awake, but he can't come in. Tony Danza gave her a dirty look yesterday when she was crying; she woke him up. But other than that, they really haven't reacted at all. I'm not sure what I expected, but I think it's going pretty well. Guess it will only be a matter of time before she's chasing them around the house, pulling their tails.
In other news, Cecilia has baby acne. On the side you can see in this picture, the right side, the baby acne is pretty bad. She sleeps with her head laying on that side, and drools on that side, which makes it worse. I have tried to prop her up once she is asleep so her head turns the other way, but that just makes her mad, and she wakes up and squirms around until she's back laying on the side she likes.
Also, if you have looked at the baby tracker website, you will notice she likes to be awake after 7 p.m., and not just awake, but mad and awake. Good times. Trying hard to keep her awake today during the day, in hopes of lightening our load tonight.
