Happy Halloween!

Does this costume look familiar? Check back in two years to see Baby Brother in it. =)

My two girls
Cecilia as Belle, Charlotte as Nemo and Ruthie was a flapper
Jamie was a dog, so cute
Becky and Baby Maggie the Butterfly
Their mode of getting around from house to house; Daddy's strong arms and a little red wagon full of two little girls, a blanket and lots of candy

NaBloPoMo

Can't believe I'm doing nablopomo (national blog posting month) since my blogging has been so infrequent, but maybe this will put me in the mood, or force me to find time for it. I have tons of blog posts in my head, still thinking like I have a blog, just not much time to share it all. Pictures from Halloween is as good a place to start as ever. This year Cecilia was Nemo and Charlotte was a cat. We had an outstanding time at my brother, Matt's, house. Their whole neighborhood really goes all out for Halloween. Made the night very special, minus the shrub that scared Cecilia half to death that she is still talking about. Charlotte didn't seem to mind the outfit near as much as I imagined, so it was a success all the way around. Oh, yeah, and the candy, tons of candy. What a great holiday.

John and I were Catwoman and Batman, but John thought it would be funny if he called himself Iowaman because he was wearing his Iowa hawkeye t-shirt. So I guess we were Catwoman and Iowaman? (wtf?)

Trick or Treat

One of the dilemmas of passing out candy at our house is that every year there are a few junior high aged kids that show up at our doorstep wanting candy without wearing a costume. This year John and I decided he would tell the kids- "No costume, no candy!" When the kids actually showed up with no costumes on, though, he turned soft, asked them for a joke, and gave them candy anyway. I laughed and laughed because on the way home last night he told me I need to reach down and grab a pair and tell the kids myself that they couldn't have candy. He couldn't do it either.

He did get to make fun of me, though. Kids show up, I say "trick or treat," I give them candy and then I sit back down to continue watching Dancing With The Stars. John asks, "why do you say 'trick or treat?'" I had no answer.

Can you tell we're new at this?

I Ain't As Good As I Once Was.

The Halloween Party was a big success from my point of view. We drank all but about a bottle or two of the 5 gallons of pumpkin beer, so that was good. People showed up in some very creative costumes, so that's good. The rest I'm going to blame on Chuck, though. He told me I wasn't drunk enough, and I agreed, and went directly to the kitchen, opened the freezer door, and got out the special stash of cold, straight-from-Germany Jagermeister. My one friend. Most everyone did a shot with me, including Sharon and Chuck. I should have made Chuck drink more. One of the worst things about being drunk for me, is that I can remember everything. I remember being very very LOUD! And I remember getting all fired up about gourds, and thong underwear, and college kids wearing condoms. I remember repeating myself a hundred times, and having exact conversations I've had with people before, like singing My Immortal. I remember thinking it's a good idea to buy pot from a cop, and that I should sing Sheriff's "When I'm With You" at kereoke in Ste. Genevieve.

Oh, man, did I feel like Shit yesterday. With a capital "S." Since I have turned 31 I have had two of the worst hangovers in my life. If this is what it's like to get old, this sucks. I couldn't get out of bed to say good bye to Christy and Jerry at 9 a.m., nor could I get out of bed to say good bye to Bart and Sarah at 11 a.m. We barely made it to the Cardinals parade (pictures of that tomorrow) and I wouldn't have gone at all if I didn't love John so much and knew that he wanted to go so badly. Man, that friend of mine, Jager, stabbed me in the back. Yuck.

"I ain't as good as I once was
Thats just the cold hard truth
I still throw a few back, talk a little smack
When I'm feelin' bullet proof" -Toby Keith

They came as our cats. How brilliant. There's Java, Chester, with Tony Danza on her shoulder, and Tabasco. They even had collars and name tags.

One of my favorite pictures from Saturday night; Dad in dread locks. Also, in all our picture taking craziness, we forgot to take a picture of ourselves. Anyone have one they can email to me?
