Happy Easter
We spent a busy day yesterday at the farm. I wanted to make a flickr badge, but it says I have used my monthly limit of uploads. I guess I will either go to ofoto, or wait until next month. There are a lot of fun pictures, but I decided to post my favorites, and the rest will show up later.
We celebrated Easter, of course, but we also celebrated Christy's birthday which is Tuesday, which reminds me I need to get her card in the mail tomorrow. We rode the 4-wheeler, Shadow the trusty horse, I did some gardening, we took a walk through the vineyard, hunted Easter eggs, ate a huge ham feast, and played softball.
Thursday and Friday we went to Hicksville (yes it's really named Hicksville) Ohio to attend John's uncle's funeral. Hicksville is where John's mom grew up and her whole family still lives there. It was nice to see John's relatives, most of them I have only met a time or two, and some I had never met. Just wish it was for better circumstances.

Slimy
As I have said here before, I am not a real fan of most politicians. Most of my exposure to them happens at our annual Senate Dinner. One night every April, the people from the Missouri wine industry host a fancy dinner and invite the Missouri Senators. They scmooze, we schmooze, I throw up. Over the years I have come to loathe this dinner. I now only go for the food, which is prepared by Lou, the chef at Annie Gunns.
There is one senator that always goes out of his way to be friendly to me, Harry Kennedy. He represents a part of St. Louis very close to where I live. Harry spent one night with me a couple years ago at the Senate Dinner, introduced me to people, and talked to me all night. I remember he introduced me to one of the main bosses at Southwestern Bell, and I told her we had DSL.
The part I don't understand about most of these politicians, is that they don't seem to care about me and how I feel and stand on different issues. It seems like very bad public relation skills to me. If I was a senator, and the wine industry put on a nice meal, and served their wines, and I knew there were wineries in my district, I would seek them out and talk to them, and be as sweet as possible, but not fake. I guess this is why I am not a senator. The senator in Ste. Genevieve is Kevin Engler. He goes down in reputation every time I see him. At the Senate Dinner that we hosted a week ago today, we had an appetizer hour, a 5 course meal, and then a dessert hour, all paired with Missouri wines. Halfway through the dinner, Kevin Engler ordered a beer. He has no clue about manners whatsoever. I viewed this as a huge slap in the face. We all know I am not against beer, there is a time and a place, and a Missouri wine industry funded gourmet dinner is not the time or the place. So, if you live in the district in and around Ste. Gen, take my advice and don't vote for Kevin Engler.

Blast From the Past
Those crazy Germans.....ahhhh......anyway.
I received an email last week from this guy wanting the winery to ship wine to him overseas. I haven't talked to him since he randomly called when we lived in Soulard. He said I was similar to his new wife because we were both left handed. I didn't even have the energy to correct him. He obviously never learned in four years which hand I favor. Bygones. He sent his website address, so I sent him the link to this blog, it's practically one big love letter to all of you about my husband, and I see no reason why he shouldn't see that. I sent him back an email from the winery, and he hasn't replied yet, so either he thought the winery has grown so much in size since he was last there that he didn't think I open all the emails, or it got lost in his junk mail box. Really, who can blame him for getting a hankering for some good Sainte Genevieve Winery wine?
When I look at the pictures on his website, I can't help think about something he used to always say to me. He used to say that he and his brothers were all big, fat, hairy, babies, which really never made me want to have his baby. He used to chant, "big, fat, hairy babies!" Although I realize if he does decide to read this, he probably won't want any wine anymore, because that's not the nicest memory of him, but after looking at his pictures, looks like his chant came through for him. He always had a pretty good sense of humor so hopefully he'll take my truthful memory with a grain of salt. Sometimes it's hard to joke over the internet, although Mike does it pretty well.
Now I have satisfied your curiosity about whatever happened to that guy?

Easier and Funnier
One more video from Germany. Can you guess this song? Half is in English, the other half in German. I recorded it from a terrible angle, really most of what you are looking at is a wooden pillar, but I already warned you of my skills, or lack there of. I also put pictures from our day at Hohenneuffen on the flickr badge.
If you are having trouble watching the videos because they are choppy, click on the "replay this video" when it gets to the end and it just might play it better the second time, since you have already have it on your computer, you are just replaying it, not downloading it and playing it.
Update: Neither you tube nor flickr wants to work for me right now. It might be Tuesday before I can get it straightened out. Stay tuned.
